Reset for the New Year With a Liver Detox

Happy New Year from Live Well Chiropractic! We are so thankful today, and every day, for your support and friendship. We look forward to helping you feel your best in 2025!

We are encouraging our patients to participate in a liver detox in the beginning of the year. It is recommended to detoxify your liver quarterly in order to maintain optimal health. It helps your body decrease in inflammation and eliminate toxic buildup. When our bodies toxicity builds up, in increases the pain in the body. Read below on the purpose of liver detoxes.

Our detox protocol is 10 days long and includes a couple of supplements, and day-by-day instructions on what to eat. Call us at 952-746-8150 to order a kit. Learn more.

What Is the Role of the Liver?

The liver has a very important role in the body. It helps to process nutrients from food, regulates blood sugar, filters and removes harmful substances from the blood, and produces bile — a fluid that aides in fat digestion. Additionally, your liver contains immune cells that help fight infections and remove bacteria from the blood and helps the body store vitamins and minerals.

What Happens When the Liver Is Overworked?

When the liver lacks essential nutrients or when it is overwhelmed, it doesn’t perform as it should.  When this happens, toxins build up and get into your blood stream. Your hormones may become imbalanced and fat may accumulate in the liver.

Signs of an overworked liver include:

  • Weight gain (abdominal)
  • Cellulite
  • Abdomen bloating
  • Indigestion
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Skin rashes

Long-term effects of a toxic liver/body:

  • Increased risk of cancer
  • Increased risk of autoimmune diseases
  • Increased risk of liver failure

Benefits of a Detox Program

In our day-to-day lives, we encounter numerous toxins — from the plastic cups we drink out of, make-up/soaps/lotions/perfumes we put on our body, pollution in the environment, pollutants in our tap water, Teflon we cook with, and the list goes on and on. Our body has a toxic “bucket” that fills with time. By detoxifying our “bucket” it gives our body a fighting chance to stay on top of our toxic load.
